Gliederung / Themen / Inhalte

- Wie kommuniziert man wissenschaftliche Inhalte effektiv?
- Inhalt der Folien und Aufbau der Folien.
- Aufbau und Erscheinungsbild eines Vortrages.
- Fonts, Untergründe, Formeln, Figuren und Plots
- Körpersprache und Stimme

Course Structure: Professor Issever will begin the seminar by giving an introduction into how to prepare a scientific presentation. What the pitfalls are and how to ensure to have a presentation with impact. After this introduction each student will be asked to pick a scientific topic s/he wants to prepare a presentation about. The presentation should be for physicists who do not need to be experts in the chosen field. Each presentation should be not more than 10 min. Every student has to give a rehearsal talk to the other participants. At this rehearsal the other students and Prof Issever will give the student detailed! feedback on their presentation. The feedback needs to be incorparated and a final version of the presentation needs to be prepared. At the end of the course all students present their presentations to everybody in a conference like schedule that should simulate a parallel session of talks at a scientific conference.

Sonstiges

'Giving a talk' is one of the most important ways to communicate our research. The 'talk' covers everything from a 10min briefing to a handful of colleagues, to a keynote address to a major international conference with more than thousand delegates. Whatever the occasion, the aim is the same -- to get the message accross clearly and effectively.

My aim is to equip the participating students with the basic skills needed to make a good presentation.
