photonic crystals, and metamaterials)
2. Light-matter interactions (semiclassical picture)
3. Optical amplification and laser
4. Types of lasers, sources of coherent radiation
5. Applications: optical frequency conversion,

6. Quantization of the electromagnetic field (Fock
states, thermal and coherent states, coherence
properties)
7. Quantum-mechanical light-matter interaction
(Jaynes-Cummings model)
