aims
This module extends and deepens the theoretical
knowledge on quantum theory. Its theoretical
methods are applied for solving concrete questions in quantum mechanics.
requirements
Knowledge of and commend on the content
of modules P1b, P2a, P2b, and P3.
structure / topics / contents
- Quantum theory of the angular momentum
(eigenvalue problem, spin, addition of
angular momenta)
- Symmetries in quantum mechanics
- Methods of approximation and their applications
- Systems of identical particles (Bosons and
Fermions)
- Two-electron systems: helium atom and hydrogen
molecule
- Many-particle, especially many-electron systems,
exchange interaction
- second quantization
- scattering theory
- relativistic quantum theory
- topical problems and methods in
quantum theory (path integrals, quantum
computing)
