Gliederung / Themen / Inhalte
In this lecture, we will jointly explore novel low-dimensional materials with a focus on their optical properties, discuss optical spectroscopy techniques to probe these novel low-dimensional materials. We will perform some of the experiments live (remotely or in our laboratories) and evaluate the experiments together. In summary, the lecture & exercise will cover

- Introduction to 1D solid state systems like carbyne and carbon nanotubes
- Introduction to 2D solid state systems like graphene, 2D semiconductors, and their heterostructures
- Optical properties of 1D and 2D solid state systems
- Optical spectroscopy techniques to like Raman spectroscopy, infrared, and photoluminescence spectroscopy
- Advanced nanoscale optical spectroscopy techniques like tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy and tip-enhanced photoluminescence spectroscopy

- Live experiments (remote or in our labs)
