Structure / topics / contents
The main idea of the seminar is to give a guided introduction into the theoretical methods for describing the optical properties of condensed matter. A number of important concepts will be presented that are used to analyzeand understand the electronic excitation processes. The discussion will include semi-classical models as well as their comparison with quantum-mechanical analogs. The seminar is accompanied by practical exercises where students will be able to put the acquired knowledge into practice by computing and analyzing the optical properties of real materials.
