aims
The lecture bridges the gap between the master courses in particle physics and current research at the LHC. We aim to provide a solid understanding of the central aspects of LHC physics.
requirements
Master-courses: "Theoretical introduction to the standard model", "Intrduction to experimental particle physics"
structure / topics / contents
We give an introduction into theoretical and experimental aspects of LHC physics. This includes topics like renormalization and factorization, aspects of jet physics, properties of the Higgs boson, as well as experimental aspects like luminosity determination, b-tagging and further experimental techniques.
Given the limited amount of time we will focus on the general ideas and not so much on the technical details.
